Mission and Outreach
Come and join our “Family Storytime”!
Each week Preschool-Early elementary aged children and their parents gather from our community to come together for an hour of play, interactive stories, crafts or activities, snacks, and fun fellowship. Parents get a chance to visit and socialize while their kids get to make new friends, play in our community playground or our Nursery, and learn through stories and learning activities=there is something fun for everyone!
We Have a new outreach for our church. Cooking diner on the second Tuesday of each month at the JW House at Kaiser Hospital. You will be cooking for people who have loved ones in the Hospital. Those are people that have a serious illness or are about to Die. There are 20-30 people that need be fed. There is a nice kitchen at the house. You can cook there or at home and bring it to the house. Your choice.
There are at least to volunteers at the house to help. They clean up afterward. That leaves just the cooking food and providing salad and desert.
I cooked for the house on Valentines Day. Julia helped. After eating a man came up to me and asked if I had cooked. I responded yes . His next statement was “you are blessed”. That is what outreach is all about, to be a blessing for someone. Please volunteer for this outreach. Be blessed and be a blessing…Bo Roberts
Hands and Hearts
Since the inception of the quilt lap robe project we have distributed 570 robes. The primary recipients of the lap robes are the patients at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital and the Fisher House. An American Legion Post 564 volunteer takes the completed robes to the hospital for distribution. We are grateful for the financial support we receive from the American Legion’s Mission City Charities. Through their generosity we have been able to purchase a sewing machine, batting, fabrics and necessary sewing supplies. We welcome donations of cotton fabrics. Join this dedicated group on Thursdays from 11am to 2pm in Inman Hall. No sewing experience necessary. We share lunch together around noon. Come and enjoy the fellowship while working on a worthy project.
Young Adult Brown Bag
Our Young Adult Group made and distributed 50 sandwich lunch packets with food and a letter of encouragement, invitation, and prayer last Sunday. We went to Central Park in Santa Clara and then on to various places from Santa Clara to San Jose–everywhere we went we were blessed with thankful people who were hungry for each kind of food we offered! Lunches were appreciated, and almost everyone we asked said yes to our offer of prayer!
Thanks to all of you for supporting our outreach efforts by allowing us to be the hands of our body of believers in faith that reach out to our community. Click here to see Pasta at the Park.
