United Methodist Women
As a community of women our purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participating in the global ministries of the church.
WHO: Women: who find meaning in the church and are drawn to its fellowship, who want to combine fellowship with study, worship and outreach opportunities, who feel they have gifts that are to be shared with others, who seek a supportive community to affirm their own sense of purpose and commitment to God. A community of women committed to inclusiveness and pledged to financial support for mission through undesigned giving.
SCOPE: Programs encompass mission education, spiritual growth, Christian social action, and a continuing focus and support to women, children, and youth.
RESOURCES: RESPONSE, the official magazine for UMW. The annual Mission U offers opportunities to explore and learn in the areas of 1) Geographical study 2) Spiritual Growth and 3) Social Issue. The reading program provides an annual list of books — and excellent opportunity to deepen spiritually, to develop an awareness of the challenges that women face throughout the world and to broaden understanding of mission.
